Chomlungma is not only one of Jackie O’s core beers, but it embodies the spirit of Mount Everest and some of the things that we hold dear here at Jackie O’s Brewery.
About three weeks after they bought O’Hooley’s Pub, Arts mother, Jackie Oestrike, was diagnosed with lung cancer. She passed six months later, but not before knowing that the bar would eventually be named in her honor, Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery.
This brown ale was first brewed to commemorate the Lungevity Everest Expedition, a quest by Brian Oestrike, brother of Jackie O’s Owner Art Oestrike, to summit Mt. Everest in honor of their mother. Brian Oestrike summitted the unforgiving mountain on May23nd, 2007, alongside Justin Hewitt. These two made the epic journey without Sherpa support and with minimal Oxygen usage. Katie Oestrike, their sister, ran base camp and helped them in more ways than can be counted.
The people of Tibet call Mt. Everest “Chomolungma” (also translated to mean Goddess mother of the Earth) & this exceptional ale carries on the spirit of the climb, and the true meaning of family.
Join us on May 23nd, 2014, in honor of the first “Chomolungma Day” as we raise our glasses to commemorate the spirit of the climb, Jackie Oestrike, lung cancer research and Jackie O’s Brewery!

P.S. Happy Birthday Jenny!
