This well-balanced, citrus-forward, hop-backed IPA received an added jolt from habanero peppers, the often orange chiles that frequently factor into Yucatán cuisine. The chiles jabbed you in the back of the throat and the spice seemed to amplify the effects of the hops, or vice versa. Spicy beers are a hard nut to crack, but when they’re expertly crafted, as Habanero Sculpin is in San Diego, they can also prove irresistible.
