Founders

If you’re here, you’ve probably heard that Founders has been getting some (potentially deserved) negative press lately.

A little over a year ago a former Founders employee made some allegations of racial discrimination…then about a week ago, parts of a confidential deposition were “leaked” (coincidentally a week before Founders largest beer release of the year) that did not reflect favorably on the Founders person being interviewed. There has been some public outcry and the internet is the internet.

This has put The Daily Growler in an awkward position…we’ve had 2 Founders event planned (like have been holding onto kegs) for almost 9 months. We also don’t want to rush to judge a company with several hundred employees for alleged actions of 1 employee without having all the facts…BUT, we personally and professionally don’t want to support/tolerate racism in any form. Especially as a family owned company with minority/immigrant members, we’ve always tried to be supporters of diversity in a generally white male dominated industry.

After much internal discussion, we’ve decided to go on with the events and hope people will enjoy the great liquid and reserve judgement until all the facts to come out…but because things aren’t black and white and businesses/people aren’t either all good or all bad, we wanted to do something positive and proactive that allows people to feel good about drinking at this event regardless of what they think of Founders as a company. So we’re going to be donating a portion of the profits from the events to the Columbus Urban League non-profit.

Cheers, The Daily Growler
